The light from the window woke her as she rolled over. Cracking an eye open, she glanced around the room and saw that everyone else was still sleeping. She searched on the floor next to her air mattress for her glasses, always an impressive feat in the early morning. After rolling off her bed onto the floor, she found a pair of flip flops and a sweatshirt and slipped out the door into the hallway.

Group sleepovers are fun, but Caroline was always the first to wake up. This left her tired, after going to bed so late, and with little to do, seeing as everyone else was still asleep. This time, they were all staying at a local community center, having spent the previous night helping run a youth group party. As she walked through the hallways of the old building, all the doors were locked except the bathroom and the kitchen.

"Maybe I'll see if I can find a room on the third floor that's open," she thought to herself. "I'd really like to see the rest of the sunrise."

As Caroline walked up to the third floor landing, she realized that she had never been passed the second floor where she normally exited to help out with other after school activities. "I wonder what's up here. I've helped out here since I started high school. I always thought I knew the whole building."

A few paces to her right, a door was cracked open, and the sunlight spilled into the carpeted hallway. She walked over and nudged the door open with her foot.
